Turner Celebrates Newark Airport USO Lounge Opening

July 21, 2016

The Turner project team managing construction of the USO lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal B in New Jersey recently celebrated the grand opening of the project. In addition to construction management services, they self-performed the job’s drywall and rough carpentry work.

The lounge serves as a respite for military travelers and their families: service men and women passing through Newark will now be able to enjoy 1,800 square feet of amenities, including a dining area, flight information display monitor, children’s play area, iPad registration area, gaming station, baggage storage, computers with internet access, and a television room.

“Turner is proud to partner with the USO to honor service men and women traveling through Newark Liberty International Airport,” said Ed Jenkinson, project executive. The grand opening concluded with a ribbon cutting and a reception inside the lounge, which will be open 365 days a year and staffed by volunteers.

Turner continues its tradition of saluting those who serve by building a space that offers a relaxing escape from the bustling terminal, whether service members are traveling on personal trips, shipping out on duty, or returning home to their families.
