Innovation

Pioneering advancements that will reinvent how we work, improve people’s lives, and shape the future of the industry.

Innovation starts with an audacious vision and a willingness to explore beyond what is, into what could be.

That is exactly what Henry C. Turner did when he pioneered the use of reinforced concrete to create safer and more resilient buildings at the turn of the 20th century – an innovation that forever transformed our industry. Building upon this legacy, Turner Innovation focuses on exploring the emerging trends shaping the modern world and developing solutions to transform the built environment. Our teams are pushing the limits of technology and exploring new workflows to support our commitment to have the best possible projects with the safest possible outcomes.

Shaping the Future of the Industry

Turner Innovation identifies and engages in strategic partnerships with early-stage startups, established companies, and partners seeking to disrupt the built environment. Leveraging Turner's experience, network, and depth of resources, we form synergistic relationships with partners to accelerate the pace of innovation within the construction industry and the broader built environment.

A Foundry for ConTech & PropTech Startups

The Turner Entrepreneur in Residence Program is incubating startups poised to transform the built environment.

The EIR program puts visionary founders to work alongside Turner Construction Company and leading venture capital firms to explore untapped opportunities and develop cutting-edge construction and property technology solutions.

Entrepreneurs get access to Turner's unparalleled expertise, vast network, and abundant resources, and have the support of our venture capital partners. This collaborative approach empowers founders to co-create solutions from within, offering them a distinctive advantage over traditional startups.

“The EIR program allows us to co-create startups that capitalize on emerging trends and technologies and unlock their potential to transform the built environment.” -Maria Pantelaros, EIR Program Lead, Innovation Manager

Empowering People

We respond to our employee’s enthusiasm for finding new and better ways to build. We accomplish this by investing in our staff and culture through initiatives like our annual Innovation Summit, our open Innovation Challenge program, Innovation Town Hall webinars, and through strategic engagements with our clients and partners, early-stage start-ups, entraprenuers, venture capital firms, and academic institutions.

Your Ideas Welcome

Our ongoing Innovation Challenge cultivates and shepherds our people’s great ideas from conceptualization to company-wide adoption. The Challenge calls on employees to share ideas; collaborate with the Innovation team, colleagues, and subject matter experts to prototype new solutions; and then work with Turner leaders to implement new solutions company-wide.

Unlocking the Creative Potential of Teams

Our innovation teams employ various methodologies, including Lean Start-up, Problem Framing, Design Sprint, and Design Thinking, to facilitate methodical innovation. Problem Framing workshops help groups analyze and define opportunities for innovation. Design Sprint workshops bring key stakeholders and thought leaders together to ideate and prototype innovative solutions. These collaborative efforts jumpstart innovation and help our project teams and stakeholders overcome complex issues together.

Advancing a Culture of Innovation

Turner’s annual companywide Innovation Summit and recurring Innovation Town Hall webinars bring our people together with innovation leaders across industries to exchange ideas and learn about advances at Turner, within the building industry, and beyond. More than forums to share ideas, these programs act as catalysts to find, grow, and scale innovation, and inspire our staff to advance the future of work.

Our People

Innovation doesn't just happen in people's spare time. It requires hard work and dedicated teams. Turner's Innovation team works full-time to identify, develop, and implement innovative solutions. The team is supported by a global network of Innovation Champions. This group of front-line staff bring a diversity of thought, expertise, and customer-centric perspectives to innovation development.
