Located on Turner’s Huntsville Alabama office campus, the Fabrication Shop (Fab Shop) specializes in turnkey fabrication services, offering clients a comprehensive solution from start to finish. From its central location, the Fab Shop works with clients across the country, serving industries such as aerospace, industrial, commercial, retail, and defense.
From design and engineering to manufacturing and assembly, our highly trained staff can tackle any fabrication job while maintaining quality control standards throughout each step of the process.
Turner's Fabrication team are some of the most skilled trade workers whose specialized expertise ensures the highest-quality products are delivered on time, every time to exacting requirements. Our Fab Shop manager, Joey Bush provides our skilled fabricators with the guidance necessary to service the dynamic needs of our growing clientele with impeccable client service.
Our fabrication process combines advanced 3D BIM technology with the latest in precision, automated manufacturing equipment.
This state-of-the-art combination creates a streamlined workflow that reduces waste and maximizes efficiency. And our experienced trade workers have extensive knowledge of all aspects of fabrication which allows us to provide expert advice on materials, tooling requirements, logistics, and more.

Metal Fabrication
The process of building structures from raw metal materials. The Fab Shop uses the latest technologies in all processes. Fabrication includes cutting, burning, welding, machining, forming, and assembling to create the final product.
Metal Installation and Structural Erection
The Fab Shop performs steel erection, which is the construction, alteration, or repair of steel buildings and structures. This often also includes the installation of metal decking and planking.
VDC/Modeling
Our dedicated virtual design and construction (VDC) department produces a detailed, 3D model of every Fab Shop job. The model is used to coordinate with other trades on the job, as well as to produce fabrication drawings and bill of materials.
Laser Scanning
Laser scanning is used when the Fab Shop is working on a job where steel is being implemented into an existing structure. The scan and model ensure there are no discrepancies before drawings are sent into the shop for fabrication.
In-house Shop Drawings
The Fab Shop has two full-time detailers who create AISC-qualified shop drawings for customer approval prior to steel fabrication. Shop drawings are created from 3D models, which can be used in clash detection and trade coordination efforts.
In addition to fabricating for Turner projects, the Fab Shop regularly provides fabrication services to steel fabricators, general contractors, and construction managers from around the nation.
