Turner Supports Low-Carbon Construction Exhibit at Structures Congress

Turner joined industry partners to showcase practical approaches to reducing embodied carbon in the built environment through the exhibit Reframing the Future: With Low-Carbon Construction at the Structural Engineering Institute’s Structures Congress in Boston, Massachusetts.

Developed and built in collaboration with Buro Happold, Cambium Carbon, Cora Structural, Tridome Structures, JP Carrara, Prime Steel, Forma Systems, First Equipment Company, Second Structure, and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the pavilion demonstrates how material optimization, circularity, and biomaterials can be integrated into commercially viable construction today. The exhibit features a low-carbon concrete floor system, reclaimed structural steel, and salvaged wood components, all designed for future disassembly and reuse.

“Sustainability in the built environment goes beyond how a building is designed or operated—it’s embedded in how it’s built,” said Caroline Murray, Sustainability Manager, Turner. “The key is integrating environmental responsibility into every phase of a project, from planning through completion.”

Turner led on-site coordination for the project, working with designers, fabricators, and suppliers to deliver a fully code-compliant, permitted, and insured structure that demonstrates scalable solutions for reducing carbon emissions in construction.

Designed and built with circularity in mind, the pavilion will be disassembled and reassembled for future exhibitions, extending its educational impact and showcasing how collaboration across the supply chain can accelerate adoption of low-carbon building practices.
