Turner Construction Awarded New South Suburban Community Park

March 14, 2011

Turner Construction Company was recently awarded construction of the new 11-acre Centennial Civic Center Park located on the north side of Arapahoe Road, behind the Centennial Civic Center building. The park/open space will be a central place where Centennial’s residents can gather for special events and enjoy time as a family.

Turner will manage the construction of the park which includes extensive landscaping and trail systems, site walls, a water play area, a restroom building, shelter buildings, multiple playgrounds, climbing walls, an amphitheatre, lighting as well as all associated site work and support infrastructure at the Centennial Civic Center Park site.  The park’s overall theme is “100 Years of History, 10,000 years of Human Habitation” and includes educational elements such as Colorado state trivia, Statehood Plaza, and an archeological dig sand play area.

Design Concepts is the Landscape Architect for the project. Turner and Design Concepts also worked together on the 48-acre Erie Community Park that was completed in 2010.

Construction is scheduled to commence in mid-March 2011 with an anticipated completion date of late September 2011.  A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on March 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
