Turner International Malaysia congratulates PNB Merdeka Ventures on the opening of the Merdeka Textile Museum, a new cultural destination within the Merdeka 118 Precinct in Kuala Lumpur.
The museum officially opened on August 21, 2026, in a ceremony officiated by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia. Located next to the historic Stadium Merdeka within the Look at 118 building, the museum is dedicated to preserving, studying, and sharing the textile heritage. We had the opportunity to contribute to the project, working alongside PNB Merdeka Ventures to support the delivery of this unique cultural space.
Guided by the theme “The Malay World in Threads and Tales,” the museum features eight thematic galleries that explore the history and evolution of Malay World textiles. Through traditional artifacts, craftsmanship, immersive technology, and multi-sensory experiences, the museum brings together heritage and contemporary storytelling for a new generation of visitors.
At the center of the museum is the personal collection of the late Puan Azah Aziz, a respected Malaysian cultural figure known for her work in preserving the country’s textile traditions and artistic heritage. The opening of the Merdeka Textile Museum marks another milestone in the continued development of the Merdeka 118 Precinct.
