The 26,000 square foot, two-story Booth Family Hall of Athletics is adjacent to the east side of Allen Fieldhouse and honors KU's historic athletic programs, its coaches and student-athletes, past and present. The project included the construction of six different exhibit areas, as well as an expansion of the lobby and ticket spaces and amenity upgrades.
The new building utilized limestone block pilasters and banks of windows to match the existing walls of Allen Fieldhouse. The objective was to provide an addition that would not deter from the character of the existing building, but provide an updated and complimentary façade in both functionality and style.
The project also included initial phases of renovation to the historic Fieldhouse, which included a new basketball floor, scoreboard, lighting/sound systems, complete Life Safety upgrades and the refinishing of bowl seating area.
