David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care

project at a glance

On behalf of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), Turner constructed the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care, a 23-story 750,000 square foot facility on the Upper East of Manhattan. The East 74th Street site sits directly adjacent to the FDR and overlooks the East River. The state-of-the-art facility accommodates the latest treatments in hematologic cancer and radiation therapy.

Give the site’s proximity to an active highway the team took special care to ensure the safety of the surrounding neighborhood. Prior to the start of construction, extensive planning went into the design of an award-winning fall and debris protection system that uses high-tensile fire proof netting. In addition, the team ensured open lines of communication with city agencies and community boards by convening “Construction Working Groups”.
