The convention center encompasses 1.5 million total square feet of space. The building includes: 313,400 square feet of exhibit space, of which 250,000 square feet is column-free, 53 meeting rooms, 37 loading docks and a 31,600 square foot ballroom, the largest in the region.
The David L. Lawrence Convention Center received Gold LEED™ certification, making the Pittsburgh facility the largest certified green building in the world at the completion in 2003. Green features include: natural ventilation, allowance for infiltration of daylight, sensors for light and air quality, a water reclamation system that reduces potable water use by over 50 percent, and also substantial use of recycled and nontoxic materials.
