With the construction of its new campus, Des Moines University has committed to training the next generation of healthcare professionals and contributing to advancements in healthcare research and practice. Set across 88 acres of the West Des Moines Innovation Corridor, the ground-up campus establishes a premier destination for students, faculty, staff and friends of the university.
At nearly 350,000 sq. ft., the new campus includes four buildings supporting various programs including: academic, office, laboratories, student support services, recreation, and operations support. Learning studios and laboratories are technology-rich, and simulated health care environments reflect those of modern care facilities, providing learners with a safe environment in which to practice patient care.
The new campus will have opportunities for students to learn with brand new technologies. DMU has established several programs to create and promote diversity and inclusion on campus as part of their mission to foster an inclusive environment in which every student and employee can thrive on academic, professional, and personal levels. Learning studios and laboratories will simulate health care environments and reflect modern care facilities to practice patient care. The project includes four buildings to support the university’s programs.
The largest building, with 130,000 gross SF, will be located on the east side of the campus and will include classrooms and offices. To the west will be another building with 128,000 gross SF. that will include learning environments and simulation laboratories. Two other structures, including a parking ramp and a student wellness center, are also under construction.
