Turner and Weill Cornell Medicine Celebrate Grand Opening of $260 Million Student Residence Hall

Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall offers sustainable, student-centered housing on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Turner Construction Company and Weill Cornell Medicine celebrated the official opening of the Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall, a $260 million project that marks a transformative step in expanding student housing on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The 16-story, 173,000-square-foot building will house 272 students, offering a modern, wellness-focused living environment near the academic medical institution’s clinical, research and education buildings.

“This new student residence was thoughtfully created to enhance connections within the student community and to provide a respite for our students,” said Emil Martone, Director of Design and Construction, Weill Cornell Medicine. “The building’s many sustainability features work in tandem with the overall architecture to create a series of spaces that prioritizes wellness for our students.”

The Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall was designed with a focus on sustainability and community. The all-electric building incorporates air-cooled air source heat pumps and is targeting LEED Gold certification. Shared spaces throughout the building include lounges, fitness and wellness facilities, study areas, and social hubs to foster collaboration, health, and a strong sense of community.
