The 150,000 square foot Shell Place expansion at McDonald Island Park transformed a fixed-seat stadium into a multi-purpose facility that can grow to 20,000 seats for concerts and other special events.
Configured for sports, the facility features a 4,400-seat football stadium, a 1,700-seat baseball park built to professional league standards, two amateur-level baseball/softball parks, a field house with an indoor soccer field and badminton courts, a community hub space, an art gallery, and banquet and conference facilities, all connected to the nearby Suncor Leisure Centre by a pedestrian link.
Work also included extensive renovations to and expansion of the Total Fitness Centre within the Suncor Leisure Centre, development of outdoor public plazas and nature walk trails.
