A Display of Automotive Art Redefines the Showroom Concept

Sonic Automotive sought to expand its presence in central Houston with a new five-story Porsche dealership and showroom. With a prime location adjacent to U.S. Route 59 and minutes from downtown, Porsche River Oaks takes advantage of its high visibility site. The Design Build team of Turner and Gensler overcame the challenges associated with a long and narrow site to design and construct a new 165,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art five-level dealership and showroom. Going vertical not only helped to give visibility to passersby on the raised highway but also led to a very efficient program and layout. To further maximize the use of the constrained site, most levels were designed to be multi-functional and fulfill several required elements including showroom and sales, new car delivery, and parking and inventory.
