New York City School Construction Authority, The Verrazano School

Turner provided the New York School Authority (SCA) with construction services for a 55,700 sq. ft. addition to P.S. 101K, the Verrazano School in Brooklyn, NY. The addition, which included the construction of ten classrooms, various ELA facilities, administrative offices and a kitchen/cafeteria was completed while the elementary school remained fully operational. To safeguard the schedule, students and faculty, the project team built a strong relationship with the Principal, who revised the school's summer hours to accommodate major scopes of work. Additionally, the school's small footprint presented the team with limited space for staging materials. To overcome this, the team met with major subcontractors and devised a plan to sequence the work in such a manner that made efficient use of what little laydown space was available.
