Previously based solely in Oakland, California, Community Works SF expands accessible, inclusive services in the Tenderloin District to reform the language of healing, dignity, and humanity for formerly incarcerated individuals and their families in the San Francisco Region. Turner’s construction management services for the newly renovated 6,000 sf space offer a safe, welcoming environment created through impactful, community-focused work that prioritizes local engagement and inclusivity and incorporates underrepresented business enterprises (UBEs) into the procurement process. Additionally, the company donated furniture, held a "build day" for employees to assemble and install furnishings, and engaged directly with the Community Works population, discussing career opportunities and pathways into the trades for formerly incarcerated individuals. This project serves as a model for leveraging design and construction to create meaningful, lasting change in underserved communities.
