Dornan Marks Groundbreaking Milestone on Advanced Technology Project

Dornan is serving as General Contractor on the €48 million data centre development in Ireland.

Dornan, a Turner Company, recently marked an important milestone on a major data centre project in Ireland, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on 20 July 2026.

Dornan is acting as General Contractor on the circa €48m development, with responsibility for the full civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical scope. The project brings together expertise from across the business to deliver a complex programme of construction and supporting infrastructure.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought members of the project team and key stakeholders together to recognise the progress achieved to date and the collective effort involved in reaching this important stage.

The team celebrated another significant milestone shortly afterwards, with structural steel installation commencing on 29 July, ahead of the baseline programme date. To mark the achievement, Dornan and client representatives addressed staff and subcontractors on site, thanking the team for their hard work and contribution to the project’s progress. Lunch vouchers for the on-site canteen were also provided to the team as a gesture of appreciation for their continued efforts.

Sustainability and responsible construction remain key priorities, with the development targeting LEED Gold certification. The project team is also working closely with specialist environmental and archaeological professionals to ensure works are delivered responsibly and with consideration for the surrounding environment.

Community engagement remains an important focus for the Dornan team. Regular communication with neighbouring stakeholders has helped the project understand local requirements and, where practicable, adapt construction activities to minimise disruption.

The milestone represents another significant project for Dornan’s Advanced Technology Division and reinforces our continued commitment to delivering complex projects safely, sustainably and collaboratively.
