The work that we do to create a better company for the next generation of Turner employees matters. Charles "Stew" Stewart, a Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, shares his :why" for affecting change at Turner through developing a more diverse recruiting pipeline - his daughter Jalyn. Jalyn has followed in her father's footsteps and is a Turner field engineer.
This work is personal - personal to me and personal to the members of the Inclusion Action Committee and the Recruitment Team. I know how it feels to be the only Black person on a jobsite, let alone in the entire Business Unit. I know the feeling of being on an island on your own. Now, almost 27 years later, my daughter Jalyn is working in the very business unit where I began my career. I don’t want my daughter to ever feel that isolation. We don’t want any of our Turner family to feel that way. And this is what drives us to make Turner the most diverse and the most inclusive company we can be.
Recruiting from colleges and universities is one of the primary ways we bring in new talent to the Turner community. As we look to bring in the best and brightest, we also need to ensure that we are recruiting diverse talent, both college graduates and experienced hires.
The Inclusion Action Committee has identified Turner Recruiting as an area of focus as we pursue our goal to reflect the communities in which we live and build.
