San Ysidro Branch Library

project at a glance

The San Ysidro Branch Library replaces the existing branch library, which was built in 1924 and was both outdated and inadequate to serve the growing San Ysidro community. The single story, 15,000 square foot library features designated areas for children, teens and adults; an event space; and a 1,000 square foot outdoor patio and terrace. It also showcases artwork by local artists, brothers Einar and Jamex De La Torre. The library is seeking LEED Silver Certification in recognition of sustainable features, which include photovoltaic solar panels, low water use fixtures, and efficient HVAC systems.
