Harris County 911 Emergency Call Center

A State-of-the-Art Emergency Management Facility

The New 911 Emergency Call Center provides Harris County with a state-of-the-art facility to accommodate high call volumes during a natural disaster or a mass public emergency event.

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, an extreme weather event that challenged the capabilities of the county’s services, the next generation facility was designed to withstand category 4 hurricane winds. The project also enables the Greater Harris County 911 Emergency Network to meet the needs of the County’s future population growth projections. The new 2-story, 44,000 sq. ft. tilt-wall facility can house 72 operators with consoles displaying a variety of information.

Located on 5 acres of the new East Aldine Management District Town Center, the center is supported by three backup generators and two uninterruptible power supplies. It has laundry facilities and sleeping quarters for operators in a disaster.

We won't lose operations for just about any disaster”
