Soldier Field

project at a glance

The redevelopment of Soldier Field included renovation and improvements to the stadium, which is home to the Chicago Bears, as well as to North Burnham Park.

The stadium project restored the facility's exterior and colonnades, and replaced the entire seating bowl, which now has seats for 61,500 fans. Work also included construction of a four-level, 2,500-space parking lot, as well as a two-level 1,600 space parking structure located to the South, independent of the stadium, that features landscaped “tailgating” facilities on the roof of the structure.

Because of the stadium's architectural and structural constraints, updates to the mechanical system required every duct to be coordinated with beam penetrations.

The Soldier Field redevelopment project has earned widespread recognition including a 2004 Aon Build America Award, Chicago Building Congress Award 2004- New Construction Chicago and Midwest Construction Project of the year 2003.
