A New Academic Tower for Learning, Research and Connection

The Woodsworth College project at the University of Toronto’s downtown campus will deliver a new seven storey academic building with two basement levels and a mechanical penthouse. Designed to support the evolving needs of the University community, the building will feature modern classrooms, offices and a library, creating flexible spaces that foster teaching, learning and collaboration.

An elegant glass façade will establish a contemporary architectural identity while thoughtfully complementing the existing heritage building and surrounding campus. The project also includes significant restoration of the heritage structure, requiring careful integration of new construction with the preservation of its historic architectural character.

Beyond the building itself, the project includes upgrades to the Bloor Devonshire Utilities (BDU) tunnel, enhancing mechanical and electrical infrastructure to support the new facility while contributing to the University’s broader infrastructure needs.

Situated within a highly active downtown campus, the project requires detailed planning and coordination to maintain university operations and minimize disruption to students, faculty and staff throughout construction.
