University Health Network - Lab Medicine Program

31,950 sq. ft. wet lab facility located on level 8 of the MaRS Phase 2 tower

The project also includes an additional 6,350 sq. ft. of lab administrative functions on level 11 of the Norman Urquhart Building at Toronto General Hospital. The project consolidated Anatomic Pathology and Flow Cytometry labs with HLA, Molecular Diagnostics and Cancer Cytogenetics into one site, providing operational efficiencies between lab functions and to increase lab capacities to meet growing Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) volumes. The construction of this project was sequenced so that the demolition of the existing office fit up on Level 8 MaRS is followed by the fit up of the laboratory. The demolition of the existing laboratory space on level 11 NU and renovation of this space into administrative support spaces commenced when the lab fit up on L8 is complete, commissioned and in operation.
