The capital improvement project features the 21st-century Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math (STEAM) learning environment, as well as services for the renovations of Veterans Memorial Park. The Salamanca City Central School District capital project heavily invests in STEAM, fostering hands-on skills for future career paths. The construction of the new STEAM wing addition at the high school offers students and faculty a technology room, a robotics laboratory, CADD room, a 3D printing room, a large makers space, a science lab and classroom, and a new art room.
Before construction began in November 2018, Turner began preconstruction services encompassing the discovery of existing conditions, value engineering, constructability reviews, estimate development, and initial budget management. Additionally, Turner developed a detailed procurement strategy to generate a high level of bidder interest and the best competitive pricing available from the local and regional marketplace.
During the construction of the STEAM wing, Turner developed and maintained the schedule, implemented lean techniques, reviewed contractor safety plans, minimized disruptions to students and faculty, managed change orders, and performed budget management. The ongoing project includes a five-classroom addition at Prospect Elementary School, improvements to the high school’s athletic facilities, and renovations to Veterans Memorial Park, a culturally important park to the community.
