Clinical Pathology Laboratories Renovation and Relocation

Fostering creativity and innovation at University of Michigan

The North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) fosters a collaborative environment of discovery, innovation and creativity at The University of Michigan. Enhancing clinical laboratory functions within the University to meet present and future growth in test volumes, improve efficiency, and reduce the expense of multiple lab locations facilitated the need to consolidate and relocate all University pathology labs into one renovated location at the NCRC.

New clinical pathology lab and testing capabilities

NCRC Buildings 30, 35, 36, and 60 underwent 190,000 sq. ft. of renovation to accommodate new clinical pathology lab and testing capabilities. Great care was taken to protect adjacent research areas – including a large vivarium, from noise, dust and vibration. The relocation also provides new faculty offices and space for resident training. All labs, including BSL-3, were built to provide flexibility to meet future requirements.
