Turner provided project and construction management services for Hong Ngoc Phuc Thuong Minh General Hospital project on Chau Van Liem Street, My Dinh District, Hanoi.
This 16-story hospital in Hanoi is the result of several first-time achievements. It is the first hospital in Vietnam to implement the UK’s strict Health Building Note guidelines, which provide best practices for design and planning in healthcare facilities. The 755,000 square feet hospital is also among the first projects in Vietnam to use virtual-reality technologies, incorporating BIM, from design and construction to hospital operations. The virtual models brought end-users, including nurses, surgeons, staff, and hospital executives, into large virtual rooms where they could interact with the spaces and decide how to arrange key systems and equipment.
The hospital’s design combines resort and medical treatment spaces in a 16-story U-shaped building designed in the form of steps to create a large and airy veranda. In order to create a more conducive environment for healing, the hospital is filled with natural light and includes an interwoven system of green plants, including flowers, fruit trees, and medicinal plants, which cover 45% of the hospital area.
Hong Ngoc Phuc Thuong Minh General Hospital won the 2020 Engineering News-Record Global Best Projects Award of Merit in the Health Care category.
