Glass City Center

Expansion and Refresh

Lathrop provided Construction Management; services for the new Glass City Center. The ballroom will have a 1,150 seating capacity with 42,000 sq. ft. of over build at the loading dock and back of house building areas. The project includes new and renovation work to key infrastructure elements including fire protection, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, electrical and low/high voltage systems. The project includes a new “pocket park” and the relocation of the entrance and exit to the underground parking garage. There will be deep foundations installed through the existing concrete. There will be demolition of the exterior skin including brick, metal siding, steel framing and cement plaster soffit. The existing sidewalks on the west and south sides of the building will be removed and replaced. The Glass City Center renovations consists of approximately 254,000 sq. ft. on three floors. The scope of the renovation new A/V and technology, new wayfinding signage, updated lighting and controls, and conversion of a third floor meeting space into a new board room and breakout space. The Jefferson street entrance is being completely redone into a new modern main entry area, including a totally renovated café area and updated lobby. The public spaces will have new flooring, ceilings, and furniture, as well as modern lighting. The exterior curtainwall system is being revised to create a new look as well as increased efficiency.
