Innovation Driving Progress

This project transformed outdated infrastructure into a state-of-the-art, eight-lane track and turf field designed to serve not only student-athletes, but the broader Des Moines community. The work included a new track surface, synthetic turf field, stadium lighting, drainage improvements, fencing, and site enhancements, each carefully planned for long-term durability, ADA accessibility, and sustainability. 

What made this project especially meaningful was how the team responded to challenges. Midway through construction, the scope expanded significantly, adding two lanes, extensive retaining walls, and lighting, while unforeseen subsurface water conditions required real-time redesign of drainage systems. Through close collaboration, proactive planning, and strong field leadership, the team kept momentum, protected the schedule, and delivered a high-quality facility without compromising safety or performance.

Beyond construction, this project represents equity, access, and community investment. The new complex supports student wellness, school pride, and community events while providing long-term value for Des Moines Public Schools. It’s a great example of what’s possible when owners, designers, builders, and trade partners work as one team toward a shared vision.
