Crowne Plaza Hotel Belgrade

Turner provided project management services for this regional landmark that has been host to many heads of state and important guests over its 30+ year history. The iconic hotel was constructed in 1979, and renovated in 2013. It was re-branded as a Crowne Plaza, now under the management of InterContinental Hotel Group. The ten-storey, 4-star, 416-key hotel includes an indoor pool, bars, lounges, restaurants, conference facilities, a ballroom, and a large back-of-house area comprised of several kitchens, sophisticated MEP installations, and administration areas. The renovated fitness and spa centers also serve hundreds of local residents who hold memberships. The hotel is listed as a heritage building so the design preserves the aesthetic appearance of the structure. To increase energy efficiency, the façade and all MEP systems were upgraded. The building operation is now fully automatic and controlled by a sophisticated building management system (BMS). Renovations also included a complete redesign of the building’s fire safety systems and strategies – evacuation plans, fire zones, choice of finishing materials, pressured stairs and shafts, sprinklers and other automatic fire suppression systems. Existing steel structures were also coated with fire retardants.
