Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce that the team in Denver celebrated the topping out of Concourse B-West at the Denver International Airport Expansion project, with the placement of the final beam.
This major milestone signifies the completion of the frame of the building for the addition to the west side of Concourse B.
The project, a Turner-Flatiron joint-venture, will include 16 aircraft gates on Concourse A and B, which will allow the Denver International Airport an opportunity to grow and accommodate new airlines, including international carriers.
"This is not just a Turner-Flatiron milestone; it took a village of incredibly talented people to pull this off," said Turner’s Project Superintendent, Steve Coopwood. "What an amazing day to come out and celebrate this victory together. A tough schedule is in our future, but with this team our future looks pretty awesome."
The four new gates on B-West will be the first to open by the end of 2020 with the rest of the gates opening by 2021. When complete, the concourses will feature amenities including an opportunity for passengers to step outside for a breath of fresh air at the airport’s post-security outdoor patios. The outdoor space will feature a pet relief area, outdoor seating and fire pits for ambiance. The gates will also be improved with a variety of seating options all with power outlets for charging, more dining and shopping options near the gates, as well as upgraded restrooms including more family restrooms and nursing rooms.
