The firm has been recognized as a leading green builder for more than a decade.
Turner Construction Company is pleased to share that Julia Gisewite is now serving as Director of Sustainability.
Julia has served on Turner’s National Sustainability Committee for the past three years, focusing on both near- and long-term strategies for sustainability at Turner. She has led the engineering and documentation efforts on several LEED Gold projects, including the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health Laboratory, New Beginnings Youth Center, MedImmune Area 6 Laboratory and the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center. And she is an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council Maryland’s programming committee through which she helps identify key industry trends and challenges in sustainability, and works to advance awareness and sustainable solutions through educational series, networking events, project tours, and more.
After graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Julia joined Tompkins Builders as an engineer in August 2005. She was promoted to project engineer in 2008 and served as an estimator for government services work before earning a promotion to project manager in 2013. Two years later she accepted an assignment in business development in Turner’s Maryland office, her most recent role.
