Four Seasons Hotel Houston is Ready for Superbowl LI

Four Seasons Hotel Houston is Ready for Superbowl LI

The Turner Interiors project team managing the renovation of the lobby, bar, and grand staircase at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston recently wrapped up their work and turned over the refreshed, high-end space in time for Superbowl LI, hosted by the city.

“This project was very much approached like an IPD,” explained Scott Johns, senior project manager, describing Turner’s early involvement, and an environment characterized by close collaboration, communication, and rapid decision making, in which the company was a strong and proactive partner. “We created a team at the front end to help design, build and value engineer, and create a product that would fit within the schedule and budget that the owner was looking for.”

Turner’s scope included demolition and a multi-phase build-back of the hotel’s public spaces, including the lobby, bar, kitchen, private dining, golf simulator and grand staircase,  as well as exterior and hardscape elements, all while the hotel remained open.  According to Scott, pull planning and close coordination with subcontractors, owner’s representation and the designers enabled the Turner team to meet their nine-month schedule in the face of continuously evolving conditions.

“We knew we needed the best general contractor in Houston to complete this project, and that’s why we selected Turner,” said Tom Segesta, general manager, The Four Seasons Houston, expressing unqualified enthusiasm for the work Turner did on the job – and in particular, Turner’s sensitivity and flexibility. “Working with Turner was phenomenal. They understood what it takes to keep our guests happy. They adjusted their schedule. We had jackhammers going on for four weeks and people didn’t even know we were under renovation because of the walls they created. To minimize the disruption to our guests was a credit to Turner and how well they worked with us.”

Admiring the finished product – which includes custom millwork and monumental marble accents – Tom was equally enthusiastic. “It’s spectacular,” he said. “We call it Houston’s living room, where people can come and gather and enjoy. It’s a comfortable place that’s approachable. And Turner created that. High end finishes, work on the architecture, work on the structure…to do that all in nine months is an amazing story that we’ll have for a lifetime. I said we needed the best general contractor in Houston. What we really got was a partnership”
