In honor of Turner Construction Company's founding, all business units stop work for the day and give back to their communities. In 2022, Turner dedicated a month to giving back and in Cleveland the team supported Greenbridge Commons, Frontline Service, and Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless. The theme of the 2022 Founders’ Month was Homelessness and that One Act of Kindness Can Change a Life.
Greenbridge Commons is a permanent supportive housing project developed in 2011 for chronically homeless individuals in Cleveland, Ohio. Our Cleveland Turner team had 17 people volunteer for a total of 99 hours. Their tasks included, constructing a shed, painting the interior entryway, cleaning the grounds of weeds and planting flowers.
Along with the physical volunteering, the business unit collected 300+ hygiene items for care packages benefiting Frontline Service. Frontline Service is a non-profit organization in Cleveland that has been providing critical support and services to those experiencing homelessness, trauma, and crisis in Cuyahoga County.
The team also donated a total of $1000.00 to the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless. This organization exists to eliminate the root causes of homelessness while loving their diverse community through organizing, advocacy, education, and street outreach.
“It was such an honor to partner with the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless, Greenbridge Commons, and Frontline Service for Founders’ Day,” said Taurean Spratt, Vice President and General Manager of the Turner Cleveland Business Unit. “While it’s amazing to work for a company that builds some of the most iconic projects in the world, it makes me even more proud to work with a team that prioritizes giving back to our local community. We are excited to continue these partnerships for many years beyond Founders’ Day.”
