Advocating for Women in the Industry

Advocating for Women in the Industry

Stephanie Burns, Vice President, Workforce Development & Engagement, was invited to the White House for a roundtable for Women Rebuilding America.

On Equal Pay Day, White House and Biden Administration leaders convened workers, union leaders, construction contractors, heads of tradeswomen organizations, and equal pay experts to discuss how President Biden Investing in America agenda is providing economic opportunities for women in fields where they are historically underrepresented, in turn helping to close the gender pay gap.

Stephanie was one of 10 women selected from across the country to participate in a robust and powerful discussion about the challenges and opportunities for women in the building trades and manufacturing, and how to close gender and racial pay gaps. Stephanie had the opportunity to share the work we are leading and partnerships we are engaging in to recruit, train, hire, and retain women in construction. She also shared her thoughts on the culture of construction and how it impacts women, and how we are moving forward in our commitment to change – not just at Turner but change for the industry.

“This experience was one of the highest honors of my career at Turner,” said Stephanie. "The importance of leveraging our voice for our industry can bring impactful changes for the next generation of builders."
