Simi Valley Hospital

project at a glance

The Simi Valley Hospital is a three-story, 136,000 square foot replacement bed tower on the Simi Valley Hospital campus. The building was constructed of a braced frame with cast-in-place and masonry shear walls. The restricted construction site was bordered by streets on the north, east and south and on the west by the main hospital. Because the main hospital's patient wing encroached on the floor plate of the new tower it was necessary to perform the construction in two phases.  The first phase was to construct and occupy the new patient tower. The second phase of the project included the demolition of the original patient wing and construction of the lobby, chapel and entrance.
