Red Deer College’s Gary W. It is intended to offer enhanced programming that promotes healthy lifestyles and community connection through high performance and recreational athletic training and playing venues, as well as community gathering spaces for central Albertan of all ages.
The facility was constructed as a requirement for the 2019 Canada Winter Games and features teaching and learning spaces including classrooms and labs housed in the Donald Health and Wellness Centre wing; fitness and training spaces with a competition track and large fitness centre including squash courts; performance gymnasium that provides additional event space with 1,200 collapsible seating and two full size gymnasiums; a hybrid sized ice surface that can be converted to an Olympic-sized ice rink for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.
