The construction of a four-level automated people mover station and security mezzanine at Dulles International Airport was completed in multiple phases and required an open cut excavation 50 feet into the ground between the main terminal and the FAA tower. Additional work included demolition of the terminal's original South Finger and subsequent erection of a bridge structure over the station, as well as demolition and replacement of mobile lounge hold rooms and west gates.
The project also required temporary work to keep the airport fully operational during construction. This work included construction of a temporary mobile lounge/hard-stand holdroom and office swing space for airport personnel, as well as the relocation and fit-out of TSA spaces and modifications to original baggage handling systems.
