Construction of the 70,256-square-foot  Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center began in 2005. Energy and innovation pervade this two-story community destination. Features include two full gymnasiums, walking/running track and state-of-the-art fitness center with aerobics studio and spacious community rooms. An elevator ensures universal access.  The Center’s unique Aquatics Complex marks the first of its kind in the Northeast. A dynamic attraction, the Complex boasts a lap pool with depth-changing movable floor and wave machine; 20-foot, multi-loop waterslide, adjustable-current lazy river; toddler splash pad; pool and spa. A convenient “wet conference room” off the pool deck supports a multitude of uses, from birthday parties to first-aid classes.

Currently operating 18 before- and after-school programs, the nonprofit Foundation intends the Family Recreation Center to serve as a beacon of recreation and wellness for the 180,000 people who live and/or work in the Town of Colonie.   In keeping with Colonie’s rigorous architectural standards, the Center’s exterior will match the architecture of existing buildings in the Crossings of Colonie Park in which it is sited. Improvements on the 10-acre site include new roads, sidewalks and landscaping.
