University of Texas Library Storage Facility (Lsq. ft.3) Addition

Revolutionizing Library Storage Facility

The University of Texas (UT) at Austin, UT System Office of Campus Planning (OFPC) selected Turner to construct the Library Storage Facility addition. The high-density library storage facility, also known as Lsq. ft.3, is a warehouse-style building that serves as a repository for remote storage of library materials.

New Addition to UT Libraries and Research Centers to Boost Digitization and Storage Capabilities

The existing Lsq. ft.2 is a shared facility between UT Libraries, Texas A&M University Libraries, the Briscoe Center for American History, the Harry Ransom Center, and the Jamail Center for Legal Research, and its facilities are filled.

The addition consists of a new building to connect the existing Lsq. ft.2 facility located on the J. J. Pickle Research Campus (PRC). The building provides digitizing and high-density storage with retrieval system capabilities.

The building, which has very few windows/penetrations, has a separate HVAC and dehumidification system with particulate and gas filters to maintain constant temperature and relative humidity levels appropriate for print matter preservation. The interior design conditions include Dry Bulb Temperature for Cooling/Heating at 50°F +/- 5°F and Relative Humidity Cooling/Heating at 30% RH +/- 5%.
