The Turner School of Construction Management (TSCM) in Portland just finished their second week of classes with a session on banking and financial management. The next unit will focus on estimating, and will be taught by Jay Blackwell, Turner's chief estimator in Portland.
Turner School of Construction Management is a no-cost, mentoring program Turner offers to minority and woman-owned small businesses in the construction industry. Weekly courses are designed to improve the reputation and profitability of minority and woman-owned firms through enhancement of their the technical, business, and administrative skills. Many graduates of the program go on to partner with major construction companies, including Turner.
This year's Turner School of Construction Management sponsors include the City of Portland, Multnomah County, ODOT, Portland Development Commission, Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters, Metro, and Home Forward (formerly Housing Authority of Portland).
