SourceBlue Expands Service Offering Globally

SourceBlue streamlines the construction supply chain process and helps clients overcome supply chain challenges through strategic vendor relationships.

SourceBlue, a subsidiary of Turner Construction Company, specializes in providing comprehensive supply chain management services to clients for their construction projects. When clients engage SourceBlue, they harness the collective expertise of 300 supply chain and technical experts. Through an established network of leading vendors worldwide, the SourceBlue team locks in lead times and pricing for clients. They give clients market intelligence that achieves cost and schedule certainty.

“SourceBlue is the leading strategic supply chain management firm in the construction industry. We help clients acquire equipment, materials, and finished products for projects,” said Chris Killian, Senior Vice President. “SourceBlue offers innovative solutions that help clients overcome supply chain obstacles and bring a higher degree of certainty to schedules, budgets, and project outcomes.”

The company was established in 2001 and has expanded its service offerings over time. SourceBlue is now expanding its global footprint, enabling the company to serve clients in new markets and provide them with the highest level of service.

“We are excited to take the company international and onto non-Turner projects,” said Rick Bach, Senior Vice President. “We expect our SourceBlue team to provide clients with $1 billion in material and products in 2024. Our growth will accelerate as we expand our service on non-Turner projects and with ACS Group companies across the globe.”

"SourceBlue has served clients in a diverse range of markets including advanced technology, industrial, healthcare, education, sports," said Peter Davoren, President and CEO, Turner Construction Company. "We now look forward to serving clients in new markets around the globe."

Some recent and ongoing project highlights:

Ascend Elements – Hopkinsville, Kentucky: The groundbreaking facility will transform recycled electric vehicle battery materials into lithium-ion battery precursors and eco-friendly cathode materials for up to 250,000 electric vehicles annually. SourceBlue has demonstrated flexibility in modifying the scope of each procurement package, either by adding or removing equipment. This adaptability has enabled the team to adjust plans to procure products with the best lead times available.

San Diego International Airport Terminal 1 – San Diego, California: A joint venture with Flatiron, the new T1 project will replace the outdated Terminal 1 with a more modern and efficient facility that will enhance the traveler experience. SourceBlue added value with overall savings of 20% on the project ($6.5M+), 65% cost savings off furniture basis of design through introduction of international furniture vendors, and 35% cost savings off tile basis of design through competitive bid environment. SourceBlue also improved Owner’s budget for finishes and Furniture, Fixture as scope increased and cost escalation over a three-year period.

Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute – Cleveland, Ohio: SourceBlue identified over $16 million in savings through a combination of risk and opportunity value management and driving competition within the market. SourceBlue also lead the collaborative “choosing by advantage” equipment selection effort amongst the risk-reward team, facilitating a process with equipment manufacturers and subsequent scope review meetings. SourceBlue built and managed the equipment delivery matrix with real-time market feedback, which has been used to inform the overall project schedule. SourceBlue is driving a lean process by providing a clear line of sight to the manufacturers production, schedule, and cost challenges happening on the factory floor and evaluating more scope for the Client for additional savings.
