The York Hospital Expansion project was a multi-phase redevelopment project that consisted of a 281,000 square foot, six-story patient care tower connected to the existing 500 bed hospital. Also included in our scope was 65,000 square feet of renovation work that included an angio suite, MRI suite, conversion of the existing laundry facility, conversion of executive offices into a new medical education facility, improvements to the existing admissions area, and phased alterations to the neonatal intensive care unit.

The patient care tower and atrium are located on the site of the previous medical education building. The tower, which includes provisions for six additional floors, includes an ambulatory care center as well as bed floors. The program areas include a heart center, an MRI suite, medical/surgical beds, OB/GYN beds, a receiving/materials management area, and mechanical space. One floor of shell space was included in the six story structure, which Turner was asked to fit-out at the end of the original project.

The construction also includes a 6,570 square foot central chiller plant, a 3,900 square foot central energy plant, and chilled water and electrical distribution for the entire campus.  The reconstruction of the campus entry road was included in our contract, as was the renewal of the existing helicopter pad adjacent to the new patient care tower.
