Kansas City

Turner’s commitment to community engagement in our local markets is reflected in three key areas:

  • Partnerships with Minority, Women, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises
  • The Turner Foundation
  • Our staff selected Civic and Volunteer activities
Our reach doesn’t stop there. We are also actively engaged in local, regional and national industry associations. We believe service is an essential part of good corporate citizenship.  To improve the economic viability of our local businesses, we participate in and sponsor a wide variety of programs which support K-12 education, health and welfare, military service members, and other initiatives that improve the economic viability of our local businesses.

Diversity and inclusion, is the corner stone of our company culture, across the Kansas City metropolitan area and in our satellite offices. Our people are contributing their time, passion, and talent to make our communities better places to live.

Turner Construction Company Foundation
The local Kansas City Turner Foundation supports organizations dedicated to furthering K-12 education, cancer research, children/family and youth initiatives, disaster and international relief, health and heart disease. Since the early 1990s The Foundation, led by Turner staff volunteers, supports our causes through donations, gifts, and services.  Through the Turner Foundation’s efforts we have impacted more than a dozen organizations and distributed more than $1,000,000 across the metro area.

Staff Volunteer Activities
Our local office has a dedicated Community & Citizenship Director, Consuella McCain, who works with our Procurement, Preconstruction, Sales, Special Projects and Operations groups to support and administer community-oriented programs and initiatives through our work with the Youth Force 2020 program, the Turner School of Construction Management, our active engagement in the ACE Mentor program, or through our work with the National Institute of Construction Excellence -- NICE iBuild.  Positively impacting the communities in which we live, work, and play, we enjoy our participation in other local and national organizations, such as Children's Mercy Hospital, Lee Ann Britain Early Childhood Development Center, and Operation Breakthrough,  reflecting our dedication to responsible corporate citizenship.

Industry Association Partnerships and Memberships
We enjoy memberships with MCA of KC, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City, the National Association of Women in Construction, the Builder’s Association of Kansas City, local EDCs and the Mountain Plains Minority Supplier Development Council.  As members of each of these organizations, Turner works with the staff to help identify events to promote upcoming and current opportunities. Through numerous outreach and training programs we work with and support the growth of minority and woman-owned contractors as well as suppliers, educators, students and many other community-based organizations.
