Turner School of Construction Management Program
Since 1969, Turner has been providing this seven-week training course for minority- and women-business owners in the disciplines practiced in the construction industry. This program has been uniquely designed to enhance the technical, administrative and managerial skills of minority and women businesses in order to make a profit and build a reputation for efficiently managing construction projects.  Individuals enrolled in the program gain insights and meaningful tools that help them target their business for quality and growth and develop new, strategic business relationships. There are over 15,000 graduates of the program.

Who Should Attend?
Dedicated minority- and women-business owners working as general contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, construction consultants and individuals who work closely with construction firms.  Individuals enrolled in the program gain insights and meaningful tools that help them target their business for quality and growth and develop new, strategic business relationships.

Each class is uniquely devoted to a separate topic and is taught by some of the best professionals in this industry. The topics will include:

  • Reading Blueprints & Specifications
  • Financial Management
  • BIM/VDC
  • Scheduling Concepts
  • Estimating
  • Risk Management
  • Construction Law
  • Banking in Today’s Economy
  • Energy Efficient Buildings

When and Where
Classes are held in the evenings for seven weeks in the City of Chicago during June, July and August.  Those who wish to register for this program should verify with their schedules and be sure that their evenings are available to take advantage of this program in its entirety.

Cost of Program
The seven week session is free and will be limited to 50 participants (one person per business please).

Selection Criteria
This program is for minority and women owned businesses; it is preferred that the business is currently certified as MBE or WBE; Businesses should be located within the Chicago metropolitan area and should be in the construction industry for a minimum of two years.  If you are a student participant, it is preferred that you are enrolled in a construction management or real estate program.
