A revolutionary tool called Building Information Modeling, or BIM, is the reason. BIM is rapidly transforming complex building processes—speeding project completion, lowering costs and improving overall quality at the same time.

Each change in design, scheduling or material is instantly available to every member of the building team—from engineering and purchasing to plumbing and electrical. BIM calculates and shows every member of the construction team how many light fixtures are going to be needed to illuminate a space receiving little sunlight. It figures out how a change in wall color matches up against the carpeting that’s on order. Even more important, it figures out how a proposed change will affect subcontractor costs and scheduling.
