Turner Construction Company Celebrates Topping Out of Hill Center Brentwood

November 06, 2015

Turner Construction Company today held a topping out ceremony to celebrate a major project milestone at Hill Center Brentwood: building to its tallest point the concrete frame of the center’s first structure. The four-story, 120,000-square-foot building at the southwest corner of Maryland Way and Franklin Road is the future home of Middle Tennessee’s largest locally-owned accounting firm, LBMC.

Key players in the project’s development kicked off the event by impressing their handprints into the final concrete poured on the building’s roof. These four were:

  1. John Gromos, vice president & general manager of Turner’s Nashville office
  2. Celeste Patterson, COO of H.G. Hill Realty Company, the developer of Hill Center Brentwood
  3. Jeff Drummonds, managing partner of LBMC
  4. J.P. Cowan, associate principal of TMPartners, PLLC, the lead architect on the project

The event took place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and honored the 120 construction workers on the project. Following the handprints event on the roof, guests gathered on the ground floor to commemorate this milestone in construction of the new building, which is scheduled to be completed by next fall.

“Hill Center Brentwood is a ground-breaking project for Brentwood and one of the most significant commercial projects Turner has undertaken during our 40 years of operation in Middle Tennessee,” said Gromos. “Like everything developed by H.G. Hill Realty, this multi-use campus of retail and office buildings will be a vibrant and welcoming place. We are honored to have been chosen to build such a landmark structure.”

Part of the first phase of the multi-phase project, the building will offer both retail and office space. The ground floor has space for six retail stores and LBMC will occupy the other three floors. The structure has an adjoining parking garage with 914 spots.

“This is certainly a marquee project for our company,” said Jimmy Granbery, CEO of H.G. Hill Realty Company. “Hill Center Brentwood is the largest office complex built in Maryland Farms and the largest real estate project in the history of our company. We are pleased to be working with Turner and the rest of the development team to deliver class-A office space and retail options for LBMC and future tenants.”

Roger Smith, senior superintendent at Turner, gave opening remarks. Chris Henning, project manager at Turner,  closed the event. Speakers included Gromos, Granbery, Drummonds and Cowan. Turner’s Safety Manager, James Tapp, congratulated the workers on their safety record and quality performance.
