Turner Tops Out Aurora Hyatt Hotel and Conference Center

May 29, 2015

On Friday, May 29, nearly 200 guests including subcontractors, members of the design team, the developer Corporex Colorado, Turner employees, and representatives from the City of Aurora celebrated the topping out of the highly-anticipated Hyatt Hotel and Conference Center in Aurora.

To commemorate the event, a ceremonial beam, signed by members of the design and construction team, was draped with an American flag and lifted up to the roof deck. A small tree was also set on the beam, a historic European tradition for newly constructed buildings. Attendees enjoyed lunch and received a commemorative tee shirt.

Turner Project Executive, Geoff Moore, and Corporex Managing Director, Mark Witkiewicz both offered remarks and thanked everyone involved for their hard work on the project.

A special guest, Turner Logan, and his family were also in attendance at this event. Turner Logan is a young man who took an interest in the project while viewing construction progress from his window of the burn unit across the street at Children’s Hospital. He has toured the site on several occasions and the fourth floor of the hotel will be dedicated in his name.

Designed by TAAG Architects of Denver, the Fitzsimons Village Hyatt Hotel and Conference Center project includes a 10-story hotel with 249 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, and pool. The 30,000 square foot conference center features a large ballroom and several meeting rooms of various sizes and brings much-needed amenities to the rapidly growing Anschutz Medical Campus. The project is set for completion in 2016.
