March 24, 2011

Washington, D.C. - Turner Construction Company was recently awarded a $5.5 Million contract for the OPEFM—Phase 1 Renovation to the Langley Education Campus at Langley Junior High School in Washington, DC.

The renovation will be completed during the summer of 2011.  The Langley Education Campus Renovation includes 100,000 square feet of interior space that will be upgraded and retrofitted to support the preschool-8 program and will also receive several infrastructure improvements.  Work will include not only interior construction and cosmetic enhancements, but also retrofitting of classrooms, restrooms, corridors, stairwells, as well as the addition of age appropriate play equipment, and repairs/upgrades to the building infrastructure such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, security/safety, data/connectivity.

The new Langley Education Campus will be a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Catalyst school. Catalyst STEM schools design classrooms, lessons, and school culture to highlight STEM issues and skills as a theme within all core subjects. At the Emery Education Campus, students in all grades will actively learn through discovery and hands-on lessons.  In the new school year, the students from both the Langley Campus and the Shaed Campus will transition to the newly remodeled Langley Education Campus.
