project at a glance

Renovations to three science buildings and the 58,000 square foot expansion of academic and research space for Kent State University yielded more than 233,000 square feet of new and modernized facilities -- with updated infrastructure and building systems and reorganized program spaces and floor layouts.

Updated air handlers, heating and plumbing piping, HVAC controls, fire suppression systems, electrical work and telecommunications upgrades were all part of the package, in addition to updated architectural finishes and lab casework.

The project is seeking at a minimum LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
