The Collaborative Research Center at The Rockefeller University is a 250,000 square foot renovation and expansion of an open-plan laboratory space between the University's Smith and Flexner Halls, two historic buildings on the north end of campus, that features a glass-enclosed, cylindrical common area that that connects the two buildings at all levels.
Added elements include low-noise/low vibration lab space for sensitive equipment in the basement levels, a 200-seat lecture room, a meeting/entertaining space on the top floor to take advantage of river views, and provision of informal food facilities.
