The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport is a 125,000 square foot facility located immediately adjacent to the original terminal and sits on the previous rental car ready lot, which was demolished. The terminal includes 12 gates and houses all airport operations on one level, including the ticket windows, gate areas, baggage claim and rental car desks. It also has more efficient climate control systems, more effective fire and safety systems, and more streamlined security processes and equipment.

Work also included expanded parking and preservation of the original Air Traffic Control Tower. Concessions include an airside gift shop and two restaurants - a sit-down airside facility and a landside bar/grab-and-go option, both locally operated. In the ticketing lobby, there are ten counters for PIA's current carriers.
